HPE Settles Claim It Reneged on Smartphone Patent Transfer Vow

Hewlett Packard Enterprise Development LP settled a patent company’s lawsuit alleging HPE failed to assign a smartphone patent as contractually required in a broader transfer agreement.

Irish patent holder Sonrai Memory Ltd. said HPE retained ownership of US Patent No. 7,818,614, rendering a dependent patent it acquired—No. 7,502,958—unenforceable, Sonrai’s complaint in the US District Court for the District of Delaware said.

Details of the settlement weren’t immediately available. Counsel for neither side immediately returned requests for comment.
