HP Enterprises Sues China’s Blacklisted Inspur on Server Patents

Hewlett Packard Enterprise Co. sued China’s Inspur Group Co. over unauthorized use of patented server technology and its affiliates’ attempts to evade scrutiny following the cloud-computing company’s inclusion on a US government threat list.

HPE alleges that some of Inspur Group’s servers and software infringe five patents related to IT network administration and power consumption, according to a complaint filed Monday in the US District Court for the Northern District of California. The US Department of Commerce in March added Inspur and dozens of its peers to an export blacklist in its effort to contain China’s tech sector.
