HP Beats Universal Flash Storage Patent Infringement Claims

HP Inc. doesn’t have to face claims that it infringed three patents related to the Universal Flash Storage standard, as a Delaware federal court found insufficient support for the allegations Dec. 18.

The court dismissed Super Interconnect Technologies LLC’s complaint because it failed to allege facts showing how HP’s products could plausibly infringe SIT’s patents.

SIT asserted that HP’s Envy x2 detachable PC infringes its patents by incorporating Universal Flash Storage, a flash storage standard with improved data transfer speeds. But the court said SIT made “no attempt” to connect specific components of HP’s technology to its patents.
