Hong Kong AI Company, Rival Reach Deal to End Trademark Lawsuit

Hong Kong-based 2.5 HK Ltd. agreed to drop its lawsuit against Florate Ltd., which claimed the Cypriot company wrongly filed a trademark infringement complaint with Apple Inc. over 2.5 HK’s Chatbox AI app.

The companies filed a joint stipulation of dismissal Thursday to Judge Jorge L. Alonso of the US District Court for the Northern District of Illinois. The US Patent and Trademark Office in May rejected Florate’s trademark application for the term “chatbox,” determining the mark was descriptive and generic, according to 2.5 HK’s August complaint.
