Honeywell Liquid-Filled Lenses Infringe Patents, Lawsuit Says

Honeywell International Inc. was accused of infringing a trio of patents covering variable-focus liquid-filled lenses owned by Holochip Corp.

Honeywell’s Extended FlexRange EX30 2D Scan Engine, used to read barcodes in warehouses, infringes claims in US Patent Nos. 7,646,544, 8,064,142, and 8,605,361, Holochip said in a complaint filed Sept. 13 in the US District Court for the Eastern District of Texas.

Holochip’s patented technology covers fluidic lenses that provide a compact, fast, and lightweight alternative to traditional imaging lenses, according to the complaint.
