Honda, Firstech Hit With Suit Over Car Alarm-Monitoring Patent

American Honda Motor Co. and Firstech LLC were both accused by a non-practicing entity of infringing a patent that allegedly covers monitoring car-alarm systems with a smartphone, in separate lawsuits filed in two Texas federal courthouses.

Galicia IP LLC, a patent-monetization company based in Austin, said Wednesday that each of the two companies improperly utilized technology covered by US Patent No. 10,814,831, according to the complaints. Honda was sued in Dallas, in the US District Court for the Northern District of Texas, while Firstech was sued a few miles away in Sherman, in the Eastern District of Texas.
