Hilti Win Over Electrical Box Patent Claims Affirmed on Appeal

Hilti Inc. is protected from a patent infringement suit because its fire-suppressing electrical box inserts were covered by a licensing agreement, the Federal Circuit affirmed.

The U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Texas held Hilti didn’t infringe FireBlok IP Holdings LLC’s U.S. No. Patent 6,252,167 but that FireBlok’s allegations weren’t so frivolous as to merit attorneys’ fees or draw sanctions.
