High Court Won’t Stop Chinese Firm From Reviewing Micron’s Code

The US Supreme Court declined to take up Micron Technology Inc.'s petition to block a Chinese chip maker from accessing its flash-memory product source code as the Boise, Idaho, semiconductor company defends against a patent suit.

Yangtze Memory Technologies Co. sought 73 pages of code relating to Micron’s 3D NAND memory chips after suing it for infringement in late 2023. Micron’s mandamus petition, filed in May, called the request “unprecedented” and beyond what’s allowable under a district court’s protective order governing the information the parties have to trade during discovery.
