The Supreme Court won’t hear arguments from Power Integrations Inc. to revive a $146.5 million patent infringement award in a decade-long dispute over power supply controller chips.
The high court Feb. 25 refused to upset a 2018 order from the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit ordering a new trial on damages. The Federal Circuit tossed the award against Fairchild Semiconductor International, Inc. after deciding that a California federal jury had applied the wrong rule in calculating damages.
The jury’s damages award came out to $139.8 million, though final judgment raised the amount to $146.5 million with interest. ...
