High Court Asked to Revive Trademark Claims Over Tarantino Film

The partner to late 1960s actor Christopher Jones asked the US Supreme Court to revive trademark and publicity rights claims over Quentin Tarantino’s 2019 film “Once Upon a Time...in Hollywood.”

Tarantino wrote and directed the film with two characters impermissibly based on Jones while using his name, Paule McKenna, Jones’ partner and executor of his estate, told the justices in a petition docketed Tuesday. The movie starring Leonardo DiCaprio and Brad Pitt allegedly copied his persona and used his name in the film and in advertisements.
