Hidden Valley Maker Accuses McCormick of Trademark Infringement

The owner of Hidden Valley accused McCormick & Co. of infringing trademarks associated with the famous food brand.

The HV Food Products Co. said it has used the Hidden Valley brand for dressing, party dips, and seasoning mixes since 1967. The company in 2002 introduced a distinctive trade dress which “is immediately recognizable and one of the best-known labels in the consumer food market,” the company said.

McCormick recently launched a Ranch flavored 3-in-1 seasoning, party dip, and salad dressing mix in packaging that allegedly copies Hidden Valley’s distinctive green and blue banners, green cap, font, and shading. This is ...
