Health-care software developer Epic Systems Corp. said a life-sciences staffing firm is infringing its “Epic” trademarks, according to a federal lawsuit.
Epic Staffing Group Inc. began renaming all of its businesses to “adopt EPIC-formative names” in 2022 despite knowing of Epic Systems’ marks, according to the complaint filed Oct. 4 in the US District Court for the Western District of Wisconsin. The plaintiff has advertised its solutions and services using the Epic marks for over 40 years, the filing said, and it’s spent substantial sums of money promoting the marks to acquire secondary meaning.
