A veteran Vermont snow-skiing safety research and development company accused global snow sports equipment maker Head Sport GmbH, of Austria, of ripping off its patented knee-friendly ski binding design aimed at significantly reducing one of the most common skiing injuries.
Vermont Safety Developments LLC, co-founded by Carl F. Ettlinger and David Dodge, claims after years of close collaboration with Head under what they believed was a confidentiality agreement, the Austrian maker patented a downhill ski binding nearly identical to the one Ettlinger and Dodge patented in 2009.
