Harvard Hits Samsung With Patent Suit Over Tech Inside Phones

The President and Fellows of Harvard College sued Samsung Electronics Co., accusing the electronics giant of infringing its patents with microprocessor and memory products for smartphones.

Samsung and its three American units create products, like Snapdragon 8 and LPDDR5X DRAM, which practice the methods disclosed in US Patent Nos. 7,973,189 and 7,560,581, according to a complaint filed Monday in the US District Court for the Eastern District of Texas. Harvard said the infringing technology is used in the Samsung Galaxy S22 and Galaxy Z Flip5 smartphones.
