Hamilton Beach Must Pay Self-Serve Milkshake Maker $3.2 Million

Hamilton Beach and Hershey Creamery must pay Rich Products’s f’real Foods unit $3.2 million in royalties and lost profits for infringing three patents for self-serve milkshake blenders, a federal jury said.

All three patents cover the use of a self-rinsing splash shield after each use of blender.

Jurors found a fourth patent, which covers processes for aeration and liquid-dispensing during mixing of packaged frozen ingredients, wasn’t infringed, according to the verdict delivered Friday in the U.S. District Court for the District of Delaware.
