Halliburton Defeats Dozens of Electric-Fracking Patent Claims

An administrative tribunal wiped out two patents and mostly erased a third belonging to US Well Services LLC.

Halliburton Energy Services, a subsidiary of the Halliburton Co., challenged the validity of 16 USWS patents at the Patent Trial and Appeal Board in Alexandria, Va. The challenges came in response to a USWS lawsuit alleging Halliburton infringed seven of these patents through the sale of all-electric hydraulic fracturing products and services filed in the US District Court for the Western District of Texas in April 2021.
