Guardant Health Inc. must pay $83.4 million in royalties after a federal jury found some of its genetic-sequencing kits and services infringe two patents TwinStrand Biosciences Inc. exclusively licenses from the University of Washington.
Jurors also found Guardant’s infringement was intentional, according to a verdict issued Tuesday in the US District Court for the District of Delaware. That gives the judge the option to increase the damages to as much as triple the amount awarded.
Guardant’s co-founder and co-CEO, Helmy Eltoukhy, said the Palo Alto, Calif.-based company “will vigorously appeal” the verdict.
