Grubhub Defeats Trade Secrets Suit Over Diet Filter, Discounts

Grubhub Inc. and a former software engineer were granted dismissal of trade secrets claims brought by My Mavens LLC alleging that the engineer participated in a coding challenge as part of a scheme to access confidential information about its dietary preference filter and discount features.

My Mavens failed to sufficiently allege that its filtering and discount functionalities are protectable trade secrets because they are described as concepts and ideas, the US District Court for the Southern District of New York said in an opinion entered on Tuesday.
