Groupon Infringes Patents With Website and Mobile App, Suit Says

DataCloud Technologies LLC accused Groupon Inc. of infringing two network communications and data management system patents through its website and mobile application.

DataCloud alleges infringement of US Patent Nos. 6,651,063 and 7,209,959, according to the complaint filed Dec. 20 in the US District Court for the Northern District of Illinois. DataCloud claims Groupon’s Android app infringes the ‘063 patent and Groupon’s website infrastructure infringes the ‘959 patent.

DataCloud seeks monetary damages to compensate for Groupon’s alleged infringement.

Groupon didn’t immediately respond to a request for comment.
