The Federal Circuit invalidated part of a Gree Inc. computer game patent that is involved in an infringement case where the company won $8.5 million against Finnish gaming company Supercell Oy.
Supercell, maker of the popular online games “Clash Royale” and “Clash of Clans,” challenged all the claims in U.S. Patent No. 9,597,594 at the Patent Trial and Appeal Board in late 2017. The PTAB found various claims invalid, but upheld several others.
