Gree Loses Bid to Revive One of Its Patents in Supercell Fight

The Patent Trial and Appeal Board was correct to invalidate a Gree patent for a gesture-driven control interface for computer gaming, appeals court ruled Monday.

  • “We agree with the Board and Supercell that the claims are directed to “the abstract idea of associating game objects and moving one or more of the objects” rather than to an improvement in a graphic user interface,” a three-judge panel of the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit said.
