Gracenote Accuses OpenAI of Infringing Media Database Copyrights

Gracenote Media Services LLC, which develops metadata products for media companies, is the latest outfit to sue OpenAI Inc. for copyright infringement, saying the tech firm used its data to train its large language models.

The Gracenote Programs Database, which arranges “millions of program elements” for decades of television shows and movies, is one of the “most comprehensive and commercially valuable repositories of media content metadata,” the company said in its lawsuit filed Tuesday in the US District Court for the Southern District of New York.
