GoPro Patent Feud Puts US Limits on Some Insta360 Cameras (2)

The US International Trade Commission barred imports of some Insta360 cameras, upholding a judge’s finding that they infringe a GoPro Inc. design patent, while reversing other infringement findings, according to a notice issued Thursday.

The commission had been reviewing portions of an earlier decision that found certain Insta360 Ace-series cameras infringe US Patent No. D789,435, which covers the ornamental design shown in GoPro’s patent drawings.

GoPro and Arashi Vision Inc., which does business as Insta360, compete in the crowded action-camera and 360-degree camera markets, where GoPro has sought to defend its share as rivals expand offerings.
