GoPro Mostly Beats Contour in Video-Streaming Patent Trial (1)

GoPro Inc. owes $8.2 million for infringing one patent claim in a long-running dispute with Contour IP Holdings LLC, as a federal jury found most of the company’s Hero-series action cameras don’t infringe claims from two video-technology patents.

Jurors found the GoPro products don’t infringe US Patent Nos. 8,890,954 and 8,896,694, which cover technology for simultaneously recording and streaming video, according to an Oct. 10 verdict in the US District Court for the Northern District of California.
