Google’s Win Upheld in WSOU Appeal of Patent Infringement Case

WSOU Investments LLC was unable to convince the Federal Circuit to revive a 2020 patent suit against Google LLC quashed by a judge in Texas who found the tech giant’s Google Maps and Google Pixel products hadn’t infringed.

The appeals court issued a judgment Monday affirming Judge Alan Albright’s ruling in the US District Court for the Western District of Texas that WSOU’s method patent could only be infringed by a product that followed the steps of the patent in sequential order—which isn’t how the Google products work.
