Google’s Ban Against Lender in Chip Suit Wins 9th Cir. Approval

A venture lender won’t be able to interfere with Google LLC’s chip production while a lawsuit over the rights to manufacturing equipment is litigated, a federal appeals court ruled, leaving an injunction in place.

Upholding the ban against Point Financial Inc. Monday, the US Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit rejected the company’s arguments that its legal interest in the assets supersedes Google’s.

The case stems from Google’s 2016 agreement with CNEX Labs Inc. regarding a chip project that led Google to share its intellectual property. Google says the deal gave it a royalty-free license to independently manufacture chips ...
