Google Wins Dismissal of YouTubers’ Race Discrimination Claims

Google LLC won’t have to defend a suit over whether YouTube’s algorithm allegedly discriminated against Black and Hispanic creators, after a federal judge dismissed the proposed class action against the company.

The plaintiffs filed the case against Google in 2020, alleging that YouTube discriminates against Black and minority content creators by restricting views and monetization of certain videos based on race. The US District Court for the Northern District of California granted Google’s motion to dismiss Thursday.
