Google, Verizon Accused of Infringing Automated Message Patents

Google LLC and Verizon Wireless’ mobile applications that send automatic replies to text messages when users are driving infringe three patents covering the same technology, according to two federal lawsuits filed against the tech giants Wednesday.

Cedarwood Ventures Inc. accused the Android Auto feature on Google Pixel phones and Verizon’s Driving Mode Auto-Reply tool of infringing US Patent Nos. 9,979,826, 10,841,248, and 11,516,643 in separate complaints filed in the US District Court for the Western District of Texas.

The lawsuits follow an April complaint Cedarwood filed against Apple Inc. over the same patents.
