Google Sued Over Scraping Used to Train Suite of AI Products (1)

Alphabet Inc.'s Google is facing a broad proposed class action alleging the tech giant illegally harvested the data of millions of internet users to train its flagship chatbot Bard and other artificial intelligence programs.

The lawsuit accusing Google of violating a range of privacy and intellectual property laws, including the Digital Millennium Copyright Act, was filed in San Francisco federal court Tuesday. It comes weeks after the same law firm similarly sued OpenAI Inc., claiming it had used “unprecedented” illegal web-scraping tactics to create its chatbot ChatGPT and image generator DALL-E.
