Google Knocks Out Another Voice-Recognition Patent at Tribunal

Alphabet Inc.‘s Google LLC persuaded a US Patent and Trademark Office administrative tribunal to cancel a Parus Holdings Inc. speech-recognition system patent that underlies infringement litigation.

The tech giant sufficiently argued that US Patent No. 9,769,314 was obvious because a electrical engineering or computer science professional who had a couple years of experience with voice interfaces would’ve found the invention obvious in light of two prior patents, the Patent Trial and Appeal Board decided Monday.
