Google Infringes Data Center Power Supply Patent, Suit Says

Valtrus Innovations Ltd. and Key Patent Innovations Ltd. sued Google LLC, accusing it of infringing a patent directed to multiple power supply control in data centers.

Google’s data center in Midlothian, Texas infringes US Patent No. 7,939,967, according to the complaint filed Friday in the US District Court for the Northern District of Texas. It states that the Midlothian data center provides power redundancy by connecting equipment to multiple power supplies, which may include a first supply connected to a Google-owned substation and a second supply connected to on-site generators.
