Google Hit With Copyright Class Action Over Imagen AI Model

Google faces a proposed class action from three cartoonists and a photographer who say its Imagen AI software model trained on billions of works in violation of copyright law.

The training of Imagen, a text-to-image AI model, involved the copying of billions of images, according to the complaint filed in the US District Court for the Northern District of California. That makes Google LLC and its parent Alphabet Inc. liable for “massive copyright infringement,” the suit said.
