Google Faces Patent Infringement Lawsuit Over E-Commerce System

Google LLC is being accused of patent infringement by Texas-based AML IP LLC on a patent for an e-commerce system that allows buyers to use one payment method for multiple service providers, similar to Google Pay.

AML IP, which owns US Patent No. 6876979, alleged in a complaint Tuesday that Google’s products and services infringe one or more of the patents directly and that Google actively encouraged others to do the same.

It said that without Google’s use of inventions claimed by the patent, its “products and services would never have been put into service.”
