Google Escapes Restaurant’s Online Food Ordering Suit, For Now

Google LLC defeated a proposed class action lawsuit from a Mexican restaurant alleging the search engine violated trademark and false advertising law by creating an online storefront that directed food orders through delivery services instead of the restaurant.

In a three-page opinion, Judge Vince Chhabria allowed Lime Fresh Mexican Grill to amend its complaint but warned that screenshot evidence the restaurant’s lawyers included in the complaint was misleading, raising concerns about sanctions.
