Google Bests Sonos Over Trade Patent Case at Federal Circuit

Google LLC cemented its patent win against Sonos Inc. over whether the tech giant’s smart speaker products can be legally imported to the US.

Sonos in January 2020 filed an action against Google at the US International Trade Commission alleging Google speakers and controllers infringed five of its patents. Although the ITC ruled Google’s audio players and controllers infringed Sonos’ patents, it then went on to find that “redesigns” of Google’s products do not.
