Google Beats Valtrus Data Monitoring Patent Infringement Suit

A San Francisco federal judge awarded Google a victory by dismissing two Texas consolidated patent infringement cases by Valtrus Innovations Ltd., finding that the patent licensing firm never had grounds to sue.

Valtrus lacked constitutional standing because it executed a declaration of trust transferring all meaningful ownership rights to its parent company on the same day in 2021 that it acquired a portfolio of patents from Hewlett Packard Enterprise Co., according to an opinion filed Monday with the US District Court for the Northern District of California.
