Google Beats Suit Claiming AI Listened to Verizon Service Calls

Google LLC escaped a proposed class action alleging the company’s AI customer service center unlawfully listened in on calls between Verizon Communications Inc. customers and service representatives.

Judge Rita F. Lin dismissed the case in a five-page opinion, finding that Google was exempt from the California Invasion of Privacy Act, which prohibits wiretapping private phone calls, because the tech giant was acting as an agent of a phone company.
