GM’s Transfer Bid in Patent Lawsuit Shot Down at Federal Circuit

General Motors Co. will have to face a patent infringement lawsuit in Texas and not Michigan after a Federal Circuit panel found that a federal judge didn’t clearly err when he ordered the case to remain in the Lone Star State.

The panel said Monday that West Texas Judge Alan Albright reasonably found factors like speed and access to relevant witnesses favored the current venue, where two patent-licensing firms—Intellectual Ventures I LLC and Intellectual Ventures II LLC—sued the carmaker.
