GM Sues Quality Collision Over Knockoff Aftermarket Auto Parts

General Motors Co.'s technology arm sued a major aftermarket auto body parts supplier for selling unauthorized “carbon copies” of a wide array of vehicle components at prices that intentionally undercut GM dealerships.

“These replacement parts are intended and designed to be substitutable with the GM branded parts, and are intended and designed to be, and indeed are, near-identical (if not completely identical) carbon copies in terms of ornamental appearance to the GM parts that they are meant to replace,” GM Global Technology Operations LLC said in a complaint filed Wednesday in the US District Court for the Eastern District of ...
