GM Must Defend Against Alleged DHS Influence in Patent Dispute

A unit of General Motors Co. must continue to defend against an auto parts supplier’s claims that the car giant convinced a federal agency to raid its Michigan warehouses, interfering with the company’s business relationships while destroying inventory.

Judge Denise Page Hood granted GM Global Technology Operations Inc.’s motion to dismiss in part by throwing out Quality Collision Parts Inc.’s wrongful seizure counterclaim, but denied dismissing counterclaims concerning GM’s alleged tortious interference and abuse of process, according to a Sept. 30 order filed Tuesday in the US District Court for the Eastern District of Michigan.
