GM Accused of Copying Tech That Helps Cars Stay in Their Lanes

General Motors LLC integrated Facet Technology Corp.'s patented tech for assessing reflective roadside signs into GM driver-assistance features that help keep vehicles in their lanes, a federal lawsuit alleged.

Facet accused the largest US automaker of copying ideas it shared with GM in 2016 during a pilot project that used Facet software to convert light-detection and ranging, or LIDAR, data into pavement markings, according to a complaint filed Monday in US District Court for the Eastern District of Texas.

Licensing discussions held with GM’s director of technology commercialization at that time failed to yield a deal, the complaint said.
