Getty Images Inc. filed a new lawsuit Thursday in California accusing Stability AI Inc. of using more than 12 million Getty photos without permission or compensation to train its artificial intelligence tools.
The visual media company filed the complaint in the US District Court for the Northern District of California after it voluntarily dismissed its 2023 lawsuit against Stability AI in Delaware federal court earlier the same day. The California court is the proper venue, Getty said, citing the AI company’s arguments in the Delaware case seeking transfer to California.
