A Polish software company sued insurance giant GEICO to keep its domain name GeiCo.ai, claiming it registered the web address for a Chinese-inspired gifting platform and never intended to trade on the insurer’s trademark.
Wayf Digital Sp. z o.o. filed the lawsuit after losing a domain dispute before the World Intellectual Property Organization, according to a complaint filed Monday in the US District Court for the District of Arizona. The company argues its use of the domain was legitimate, not cybersquatting, and seeks a court order preventing GEICO from taking control of the web address.
