GE Wins on Appeal of Raytheon Turbine Patent Validity Decision

General Electric Co. had standing to appeal a Patent Trial and Appeal Board decision affirming the validity of a Raytheon Technologies Corp. patent covering airplane turbine engines despite not being formally accused of infringement, the Federal Circuit said Wednesday.

The court also remanded to PTAB for new proceedings, finding it erred in its analysis of the patent’s validity.
