GE Mounts Three-Front War on Order Blocking an Offshore Windmill

General Electric Co. urged a federal judge to slash the royalty rate for the injunction carve-out of a lucrative offshore wind project in New Jersey, even as it seeks to alter the order so it can sell versions of the infringing turbine that “design around” the infringed patent.

A Massachusetts jury in June found that GE’s design for its Haliade-X offshore turbine infringes a Siemens Gamesa Renewable Energy A/S patent, awarding Siemens a running royalty of $30,000 per megawatt in the future.
