Garmin, Adidas Wearables Among Targets of New Patent Suits (1)

Wearable-fitness device makers Adidas AG, Under Armour Inc., Garmin Ltd., Oura Health Oy, and Decathlon SA were sued in separate lawsuits alleging infringement of two expired patents whose inventor launched the company behind commercials in the late 1980s with the tagline, “Help! I’ve fallen, and I can’t get up!”

Healthness LLC filed the complaints Aug. 19—four in the US District Court for the Western District of Texas and a fifth, against Garmin International Inc., in the Southern District of Florida.
