Fortress Seeks $400 Million for Second Fund Focused on Patents

Fortress Investment Group said it’s finding more opportunities to purchase patent portfolios and is aiming to raise $400 million for its second fund to invest in intellectual property.

The fund will buy undervalued patent portfolios or acquire all or part of undervalued companies “where we believe that the value of the company’s intellectual property is greater than the acquisition cost of the company itself,” according to a company document seen by Bloomberg News.
