Former Jade Singer Loses Trademark Dispute Over Band Name Use

A former member of the R&B group Jade failed to revive her lawsuit accusing bandmates of trademark infringement for performing as Jade with another singer.

Di Reed’s lawsuit failed because Joi Marshall and Tonya Harris are co-owners of the “Jade” trademark, and federal law doesn’t allow claims between co-owners, according to an opinion published Wednesday by the US Court of Appeals for the Fifth Circuit.
