Former Acting Patent Office Chief Matal Joins Haynes and Boone

Former Patent and Trademark Office Acting Director Joseph Matal has joined Haynes and Boone LLP as an intellectual property practice partner, the firm announced.

Matal comes to the corporate firm following a long career in government, including a stint as interim patent office chief between Michelle Lee and current agency head Andrei Iancu.

Matal also previously served as patent office acting solicitor, where he defended the agency in cases before the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit and the U.S. Supreme Court.
