Florida State U Sues AT&T, Verizon, T-Mobile Over 5G Tech (1)

Florida State University’s intellectual property licensing firm sued AT&T Inc. units, Verizon Communications Inc., and T-Mobile USA Inc., saying their 5G wireless network service offerings infringe two of the school’s patents.

The carriers infringed Wi-Fi-related US Patent Nos. 9,838,104 and 8,817,693, according to Florida State University Research Foundation Inc.’s complaint filed Monday in the US District Court for the Northern District of Florida.

FSURF, which commercializes the university’s intellectual property and exclusively licenses it to co-plaintiff Red Signal Systems LLC, said the accused product is the carriers’ actual 5G network service. That includes radio access, core ...
